I consider myself to be a Software Artist more than an engineer these days.
I'm relentlessly curious. Curiosity has been a constant in my life and I hope it never leaves me.
I love making and breaking things. From fixing bikes and making garments, to tearing down a codebase to understand and rebuild it.
My earliest memory is upgrading the RAM in my Dad's Pentium III workstation from 512MB to 768MB. This sparked a lifelong curiosity about computers and technology. As a kid I found myself using Linux, building computers, and renting VPS's to run Minecraft and Ventrillo servers. Eventually I became curious with smartphones and learned some of the basics of how to program apps for Android.
I left for college to study Math/Computer Science at UCSD, and also swam on the UCSD Swim and Dive Team. One of my first programming gigs was helping with molecular dynamics simulations for flexible organic semiconductors in the Lipomi Lab. I had a couple internships at Qualcomm and ultimately ended up working there for 2 years in 5G Layer 1 Software.
I left Qualcomm to pursue my curiosity with technology full-time. It's now been 5 years without a regular job. I have been so lucky to meet some amazing people along the way and work on some incredible projects as well. I'm also very passionate about open source software and contribute whenever possible. I believe that sharing ideas moves us forward the fastest. These days, I'm focused on making technology that gets out of the way, that helps us live more presently and connect more authentically.

Since quitting my job, the outdoors have become central to who I am. Growing up, I spent most of my time on computers, but quitting my job and COVID drove me outside. Outdoor climbing at the time became almost a daily occurance for me and the community has brought me to tears multiple times. In some ways I feel like I learned what community is from the wonderful climbers I've met. It also brought me deeper and deeper outside since multipitch trad is my jam (ha) . This led me into all kind of other activities.
You'll probably find me surfing, climbing, slacklining/highlining, juggling, biking, running, swimming, scuba diving, disc golfing, flying planes, hiking, backpacking, or bikepacking. I'm also passionate about photographing and identifying nature, gardening, and volunteering with the adaptive community.
